Patrick Kennedy

Senior Counsel

Patrick Kennedy is a senior public affairs practitioner with extensive experience in media management and in the broader field of public affairs. His experience includes communication training, issues management and government relations.

As a Press Secretary for the New South Wales State Government in the 1990s, Patrick worked in portfolios as diverse as Urban Affairs and Planning, Energy, Family and Community Services, Juvenile Justice and Transport.

Outside Government, Patrick has worked as Public Relations Manager of the Sydney Ambulance Service, the NSW Health Department and the National Parks and Wildlife Service before establishing Kennedy Communications in 2000.

Apart from his knowledge of the media, Patrick has a thorough understanding of the workings of a Ministerial office.  Since his years in Parliament, he also worked closely with many politicians and their staff, as the Public Affairs specialist responsible for communications between various public sector agencies and their respective political offices.

Patrick has been a regular media interviewee, as the public face of many government departments, on all metropolitan and regional radio networks, television news and current affairs programs. He has an in-depth working knowledge of all forms of the media, having completed thousands of radio and television interviews over a 23-year period.

While many media trainers and issues managers are journalists, few have been on Patrick's side of the cameras and microphones - in the spotlight and knowing just how hard it is to be an outstanding media performer under the most trying of circumstances.

In 2010, Kennedy Communications merged with Reputation Australia and today, Patrick serves as Senior Counsel, advising clients on a wide range of reputation management issues as well as regularly conducting training programs.
